American reality television personality Kim Kardashian is used to causing a stir on social media – and her latest bizarre necklace certainly did the trick.

On Monday, the reality star wore a skin-toned piece of jewellery round her neck which creepily resembled an alien growth.

The Keeping Up celeb wasn’t the only one jumping on the unusual skin-growth bandwagon.

Kim’s close friend Chrissy Teigen, American model and author, also followed suit, uploading a snap of a feather-adorned breastpiece that looked like it was growing from her chest.

The baffling pieces were from Kim’s pal Simon Huck, as part of his new experimental art concept called A Human, reports the SUN.

Kim wrote on Instagram: ‘My necklace glows like a heartbeat. It moves to the rhythm of my heart beat. Thank you A Human.’

Both Kim’s and Chrissy’s skin-growth pieces were created to promote Simon’s interactive exhibition, which is launching in New York next week.

It will run for a month from September 5, and features futuristic clothing-like items that are inserted under the skin to give the appearance of artificially modified bodies.

Other pieces in the unusual collection include heels shaped like conch shells.

Fans of Keeping Up with the Kardashians will have spotted Simon Huck in a number of episodes, and he was pictured with Kourtney in Italy this summer.

He runs the company Common Entertainment Group, which connects social media influencers to brands looking for promotion.

Kim previously said to the New York Times: ‘He’s always been there at times when I’ve needed him.

‘He’s the definition of loyal. I feel like you need to surround yourself with people who make you laugh and keep your spirit alive as you grow and evolve.’
