Proud of my curves: Sonakshi Sinha

Mumbai: In today’s day and age, when most Bollywood actresses are on a mission to look slim, there is one who is proud of her curves and never wants to lose them. Actress Sonakshi Sinha says that she has always been a curvaceous girl and she would never want to get rid of them.

‘My curves are very intact and I feel Bhumi’s curves are also very intact. I think it’s everybody’s requirements,’ Sonakshi told IANS in an interview when asked why every actress in B-town, including Parineeti Chopra and Bhumi Pednekar, are losing their curves in order to join the bandwagon of slim stars.

‘I have always been a curvaceous girl. No matter how hard I try, I cannot lose my curves and I don’t want to lose them at all. It’s something that I am very proud of and it’s just the way I am,’ she added.

The actress has not only proved her acting prowess in films like ‘Dabangg’, ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and ‘Lootera’ but has also impressed many with her style sensibilities off screen.

So does the tag of a fashion icon brings in certain kind of responsibility for her?

‘I think, yes, in a way, but for me it’s a very different kind of responsibility. I know that I influence a lot of young girls and growing up girls, and there are a lot of girls who are from different strata of society. So for me, I always want my style and fashion to be achievable,’ she replied.

‘It should not be something that is so out of the way that people just actually look at you and say, ‘Wow I wish I could do that.’ I want you to look like me if you really like my style. That’s my responsibility to have achievable fashion,’ the actress added.

And with these experimentation in fashion, she did confess of committing some mistakes in the past but without regrets.

‘Fashion police does not bother me at all. Over the years I have realised that fashion actually doesn’t have any rules. For me, it’s a way of expressing myself... My own personal style and not giving a damn about what people are thinking and saying. If I feel good in something I am wearing, I will wear it,’ she said.

‘I know I made lot of mistakes but that’s how I learnt, and I think I like making mistakes because then you learn best from experience,’ said Sonakshi, who turned showstopper for ace designer Anita Dongre at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week Summer-Resort 2016 here.

Sonakshi, who was once a backstage co-ordinator at the fashion gala, is now a hot favourite of many designers as a showstopper, thanks to her rise in tinsel town.

The actress says that she has learnt a lot from that job as well.

‘Everything just changed from being somebody who looked after the shows at the main area to now under the spotlight. It’s quite a transition. I learnt a lot when I was working backstage as well,’ she said.

Talking about her Bollywood projects, Sonakshi said that she is all set to stun the audience with her action-packed avatar in upcoming films ‘Akira’ and ‘Force 2’, while adding that she completely relates to her character in these films.

‘I have been a very-out-there person. I have always voiced my opinion, I have always stood up for things that I feel are right, so yeah, that’s just who I am so are the films,’ she said.
