Shankhachil to hit cinemas today
Dhaka: India's National Film Award-winning filmmaker Goutam Ghosh's latest movie 'Shankhachil' is set to be released at different cinemas in Bangladesh and India simultaneously today, the first day of Bangla New Year-1423.
Kolkata's famed actor Prosenjit Chatterjee and Bangladesh actress Kusum Sikder have acted in the main characters of the movie co-produced by Bangladesh and India. Debutante Anum Rahman Khan (Sanjhbati) has played a role of their daughter.
Other artistes who played important roles in the film include Mamunur Rashid, Parbir Mitra, Rosey Siddiqui, Riaz Mahmud Jewel, Shakil Ahmed, Shahed Ali, Usashi Chakraborty, Arindam Shil and Dipankar Dey.
The story of the film has been developed in the context of the 1947 partition. The happiness and sorrows of border people after the partition have been portrayed in the film.
The shooting of the movie was held at various locations at Taki in Uttar Chabbish Pargona along the Bangladesh-India frontier.
Shankhachil is produced by Impress Telefilm and Ashirbad Cholochitro of Bangladesh, and N Ideas of India.
Goutam Ghosh has co-produced with Bangladesh for the third time. Earlier, this prominent director earned widespread admiration by making two films–'Padma Nadir Majhi' and 'Moner Manush'.
Marking the release of Shankhachil, a ‘red carpet and premiere show’ was arranged at the Star Cineplex at Bashundhara City in the capital on Tuesday.
Impress Telefilm Manging Director Faridur Reza Sagor, Ashirbad Cholochitro owner Habibur Rahman Khan, Mamunur Rashid, Goutam Ghosh, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Kusum Sikder, Anum Rahman Khan (Sanjhbati) and Border Guard Bangladesh Director General Major General Abdul Aziz spoke on the occasion.
