Dhaka: National Film Award winning actress Dilar Hanif Rita, popularly known as Purnima is celebrating her birthday on Monday.

It is a day to celebrate the noted actress an eventful birthday with family and friends.

Purnima started her career as a Bangla movie actress in 1997 with her debut film ‘E Jibon Tomar Amar’ directed by Zakir Hossain. She was only 14 then.  

Her longtime career has brought her the National Film Award in 2010 for Best Film Actress in ‘Ora Amake Valo Hote Dilo Na’, along with the admiration of millions.  

She has also proven her talents in TV dramas and commercials.  

Her performance in “Megher Por Megh” (2004) based on Bangladesh liberation war director by Chashi Nazrul Islam, has won the hearts of thousands of her fans.  

Her other notable commercial successes are ‘Hridoyer Kotha’ (2006), ‘Akash Chhoa Bhalobasa’ (2008), ‘Poran Jaye Jolia Re’ (2010), and ‘Matir Thikana’ (2011).  

The actress was born in Chittagong and her parents are Mohammad Hanif and Sufia Begum. She has two sisters--Rekha and Dilruba Hanif.  

She got married to businessman Ahmed Fahad Jamal on November 4 in 2007. She gave birth to her daughter Arshia Umaija on April 13 in 2014.
