‘Kelor Kirti’ gets screening permission in Bangladesh
Dhaka: The screening of Indian Bangla film ‘Kelor Kirti’, directed by Raja Chanda, got the permission in the cinemas in Bangladesh.
The Appellate Division cleared the way for screening the Indian movie in the country staying the High Court Division order that halted it on July 19, reported UNB.
A four-member SC bench headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order on Sunday.
Earlier, a High Court bench stayed for six months the screening of the Tollywood movie responding to a petition filed by a film producer, Sharif Hossain, who on July 18, filed the written petition challenging the legality of importing the film without following film importing and exporting rule.
Meanwhile, a number of Dhaka artistes, directors, and producers formed a human chain in front of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on July 20 protesting the move to allow the screening of Indian films in local cinemas.
