Chittagong: Lyricist, composer, and singer Abdul Gafur Hali died at Mount Hospital in Chittagong early on Wednesday, confirmed Gafur’s family.

He was 88.

The veteran artist had been suffering from various health complications over the last two months.

The singer’s namaz-e-janajas will be held at Fatickchari Maizbhandar Darbar and Mahanagar Jamiatul Falah Mosque on Thursday.

Later, he would be buried at his family graveyard in Rashidabad of Patiya upazila after the jumma prayer on Friday.

Gafur Hali is survived by two sons and two daughters.

He composed more than 1,500 scores including ‘dui kul-er sultan vandari’, ‘dekhe jare Maizbhandere’, ‘shona bondhu tui amare korli re dewana’, ‘oi lal kurta wala’ and many more.
