Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has ended his 25-year friendship with actress Kajol. Rumour mills were abuzz that the two friends turned foes during the clash of their films 'Ae Dil Hai Mushkil' and 'Shivaay', Zoom TV reports.

Karan has written his side of the story in his new book, The Unsuitable Boy.

In his book 'An Unsuitable Boy', Karan not only opened up about his sexuality but also spoke about matters close to his heart, one of which included the disintegration of his friendship with Kajol. According to an excerpt from his book doing the rounds online, Karan cited Ajay Devgn (Kajol's husband) as one of the reasons for the argument. Without dragging the other in the dirt, the star revealed that it was when Kajol tweeted 'Shocked!'—mentioning Karan bribing Kamaal R Khan to sabotage 'Shivaay'—that he knew his relationship with her was over.

‘That tweet validated the insanity, that she could believe I would bribe someone. I felt that's it. It’s over. And she can never come back to my life. I don’t think she wants to either. I never want to have anything to do with them as a unit. She was the one who mattered to me but now it’s over,’ Karan said.

‘The problem was actually never between her and me. It was between her husband and me, something which only she knows about, he knows about, and I know about. I want to keep it at that. I don’t really want to say what transpired. But I did feel that she needed to apologize for something she didn’t do,’ Karan added.

Talking about their mutual friends, Karan adds, ‘It hurts me that she’s still close to people I am really close to, like Manish and Niranjan. Somehow I wish she wasn’t. When they talk about her, it angers me. I know it is not fair for me to impose my feelings on them, but it bothers me.’

‘Kajol was important to me but not anymore. I told my mother if she wants to keep her relation with Kajol, she can. But she is no more in my life. I don’t want to keep her in my life because she hurts my emotion. I think she is not perfect for me as a friend. I don’t miss her,’ he added.

It’s no secret that Karan Johar and Kajol‘s relationship has taken a downturn over the years, mostly because of Ajay Devgn. As part of his book, An Unsuitable Boy, Karan went into depth about their current relationship, and he spared no words.

He wrote, ‘It’s over. And she can never come back to my life. I don’t think she wants to either. I never want to have anything to do with them as a unit. She was the one who mattered to me but now it’s over. […] I wouldn’t like to give a piece of myself to her at all because she’s killed every bit of emotion I had for her for twenty-five years.’
