Mithila commits ‘suicide’, husband booked
Joya Shil, a model and dance artiste, was found dead at her residence. She was known to media as Jacqueline Mithila.
Mithila was found dead on 3 February. Her father, Swapan Shil, filed a case with Chittagong Port police station on the same day accusing her daughter was instigated to commit suicide.
One Utpol Roy is the prime accused in the case. The case statements describes Joya as 22-year-old and Utpol as her husband, a native from Dhurong union at Fatikchhari upazila. Seven more people were accused in the case.
Jacqueline modelled in several music videos. Besides, she danced in a movie song. She was seen dancing in ‘Chokher Dekha’ — a Bengali movie directed by PA Kajol. However, she was less known in the mainstream media. Jacqueline, however, was active on social media. She used to post raunchy photos and rowdy comments on Facebook, which often created buzz on social media. She loved to compare herself with Sunny Leoone, a Indo-canadian born former porn star.
Joya Shil was active on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube with her penname Jacqueline Mithila. She often used to come ‘live’ on Facebook to chat with her fans. She had been found casual on those live conversations with explicit outfits.
Chittagong Port Police Inspector (investigation) Bikash Sarkar told NTV Online, ‘A woman named Joya Shil committed suicide on 3 February. On the same day her father filed a case accusing her daughter was instigated to commit suicide. A post-mortem had been done and the body was handed over to her family for cremation. The investigation is going on.’
Detail of the case will be exposed only after the investigation has been done, the officer added.
Suicide note on Facebook
Jacqueline Mithila posted a status on Facebook before committing suicide. On 30 January at 11:49pm, she wrote on Facebook: ‘I’ll commit suicide tomorrow. No one dumped me. I also dumped none. But I’ll commit suicide.’
Next day, on 31 January at 7:28am she wrote, ‘I’m gradually moving towards death.’
