Lakshmipur: A trader was hacked to death by some miscreants at Kamalnagar upazila in Lakshmipur in early hours of Wednesday.

The deceased is Abul Kashem, a poultry trader and a resident of Saheberhat area.

Quoting family sources police said a group of miscreants swooped on Abul Kashem and hacked him near Killar Rasta intersection while he was going to Charkadia for buying chicks, leaving him dead on the spot.

The miscreants also looted a mobile phone set and cash from his possession.

Kabir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kamalnagar Police Station, said police recovered the body and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy at about 9:30am.

The reason behind the killing could not be known yet, said the OC.
