Sylhet:  A young couple reportedly committed suicide by hanging themselves with the same rope at Fatehpur union council of Goainghat upazila on Monday morning.

The deceased are Sagor Bhowmik, 18, and Suroti Munda, resident of the union council.

Tea garden workers found the bodies of the duo hanging from a jackfruit tree around 6:00am.

On information, police went to the spot and recovered the bodies.

Family member of the deceased said Suroti and Sagor took decision to commit suicide as Suroti’s family deceided to marry off Suroti to another man on February 27.

Goainghat police officer-in-charge Abdul High confirmed the incident.
