Girl raped on roads to relative’s house
Brahmanbaria: A girl was raped by a group of people on her way to a relative’s house at Akhaura in Brahmanbaria on Wednesday evening.
One of the suspected rapists, Robin, was held by Akhaura Border Guard Bangladesh members and later handed over to the police.
Robin, in his twenties, from Hirapur village of Akhaura, is driver of the auto-rickshaw on which the victim got on to go to her brother-in-law’s house at Boutala village in the upazila.
Police said the driver deceived the girl into travelling to another village, Umedpur, and raped her with the help of at least four persons, namely Jamal Miah, Iamin Miah and Junayed, all are aged between 18 to 25 years, and an older person, aged about 50.
They forcefully took the girl to a jungle and raped her in turns.
Hearing screams of the victim, BGB members from the Akhaura immigration check post rushed in and rescued her.
However, the rapists managed to get away.
Later, BGB members arrested Robin with the help of local people.
On Thursday morning, the girl filed a case with the Akhaura police against seven people.
Akhaura police officer-in-charge Mofiz Uddin Bhuiyan confirmed the incident, saying the victim was sent to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital for medical test.
