Bengal Art Lounge has planned to arrange ‘The InvisiBellas’, an exhibition based on a street art project that aims to shed light on gender based inequality.

Showcasing wall paintings and drawings, the exhibition will be inaugurated by American Centre director Ann B. McConnell, and Tradexcel Graphics chairman Rezwan Rahman on 19 March 2016 at 6:00pm, says a press release.

With the intention to raise widespread awareness, this project aims to address issues which lead to gender oppression and encourage a community free from it.

The first phase of ‘The InvisiBellas’ took place in the Notun Bazar area of the capital, where 15 artists painted a 100 feet wall to promote gender equality through art. Bengal Art Lounge will now exhibit the outcome of this first phase, giving a space to these artists and their works presenting a street-art aesthetic rarely displayed in galleries. ‘The Invisibellas’ is a project that hints at a few, pressing issues that will find echo in today’s Bangladesh. A space dedicated to the newest forms of artistic expression, Bengal Art Lounge is delighted to present this exhibition to the public.

Initiated by Dhaka Hub, Global Shapers in association with Bengal Foundation, this project is supported by the Edward M. Kennedy centre for Public Service and the Arts, and Tradexcel Graphics ltd.

The exhibition will be open daily, 12 noon — 8:00pm until 9 April.
