Govt to construct 87,606 flats in capital

Parliamnet: The government is going to build 87,606 flats, including 10,000 for low-income people, in the capital city on PPP/G-to-G basis to expand housing facilities for city dwellers.
Besides, a Satellite Township will be constructed at Section 9 of Mirpur while a multistoried commercial-cum-residential building at GEC intersection in Chittagong.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith came up with the disclosure while unveiling the national budget for the fiscal year 2017-18 on Thursday in the Parliament.
"We've taken initiatives to build 62,000 flats under Purbachal new city project on PPP basis and 10,944 flats under Jhilmil project on PPP/ G-to-G basis," he told Parliament.
The minister said they have also plans to construct 4,662 residential flats in Korail, Lalasarai and Mohakhali areas in Dhaka on PPP-basis.
Besides, Muhith said, nearly 10,000 flats will be built for low-income people at Mirpur under the PPP model.
