Dhaka: Relief and Disaster Management Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya on Saturday said World Food Programme (WFP) has assured that it will provide food support for 5,00,000 Rohingya refugees as long as it is required.

The Minister came up with the information after attending a meeting with WFP Executive Director David Beasley at a city hotel in the morning.

"WFP has decided to provide food for 500,000 Rohingyas after we have been informed them that the prices of daily essentials are very high in the local market of Bangladesh", he said.

WFP will also provide special food with high protein for pregnant women and children and also bear expenses of the children's education, he added.
