Demos against DU Boishakh assault

Dhaka: Bangladesh Students’ Union held rally and formed human chain protesting the sexual assault on women during the Boishakhi celebration at Dhaka University campus.
Students’ union declared to continue their protest programmes until the molesters are identified and punished.
The student organisation formed a human chain from Aparajeyo Bangla to Curzon Hall at Dhaka University campus area demanding six issues on Monday morning.
Teachers, Students, and people from every level of lives also joined their hands in the human chain.
The protestors demanded to establish anti-sexual harassment rules ensuring security for women in every sphere of lives including shelter, educational institutions and work places.
The demonstrators also demanded the removal of the proctor of DU and investigation on the duty negligence of the police.
The students of DU Fine Arts Department arranged a road painting event in front of the Raju sculpture protesting the incident.
Earlier on 14 April some young men sexually harassed around 20 women for about an hour at the Suhrawardy Udyan gate near the TSC area at about 6:00pm.
Several people were also injured as they tried to stop the youths from assaulting the women.
