Dhaka: The High Court on Sunday granted interim bail to BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in two cases filed for torching vehicles.
Rizvi, however, will remain in jail as he was shown arrested in four more cases.
An HC bench comprising judges Mohammad Rezaul Haque and Mohammad Khasruzzaman passed the order, reports UNB.
The court also issued a rule asking the government to explain why the BNP leader should not be given permanent bail in the two cases.
Lawyer Joynul Abedin stood for Rizvi who is now in jail.
Police filed two cases against the BNP leader with Mohammadpur police on 23 and 27 January respectively on charge of torching vehicles.
