Hearing on Moudud’s writ adjourned till July 2
Dhaka: The High Court on Thursday adjourned till July 2 the hearing on a writ petition filed challenging the legality of the eviction of BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed from his Gulshan residence.
An HC bench comprising Justice Syed Muhammad Dastagir Husain and Justice Md Ataur Rahman Khan passed the order.
In the petition, Moudud prayed to the High Court to pass an order declaring the eviction drive illegal.
The writ petition also said there was no notice from Rajuk before evicting him from the house and the Rajuk team could not show him any paper. Besides, the court is yet to publish the full copy of the verdict.
Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon filed the writ petition on behalf of Moudud Ahmed.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Rajdhahi Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) took over BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed's Gulshan house following a court order.
The utility services like gas, water and electricity of the house were disconnected while its valuables and furniture removed.
On June 4, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court dismissed two petitions filed seeking a review against the SC verdict that scrapped BNP senior leader Moudud Ahmed's possession of a house at Holding No 159 in Gulshan-2 area of the capital.
One of the review petitions was filed by Moudud's brother Manjur Ahmed and another was filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission.
The SC released the full text of its verdict that scrapped the possession of a house on August 2, 2016. Later, Moudud filed the review petition over it.
