Police beat students protesting at sexual harassment (VIDEO)

Dhaka: Police in Dhaka on Sunday charged batons on a gathering of students who were protesting at the sexual harassment of women during the Bangla New Year celebrations on Dhaka University campus on 14 April.
The students gathered near Circuit House Mosque by Kakrail-Moghbazar Road at about 1:00pm to lay siege to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police headquarters as part of their pre-announced programmes to protest at the harassment.
Police attacked the gathering and started beating the students, the students said.
Bystanders said police used batons and water cannons to disperse the gathering that was mobilised by Bangladesh Students’ Union (BSU).
Police arrested three of the BSU activists from the scene.
About seven BSU activists were injured during the attack and are admitted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Police said they drove away the protestors as their gathering was hindering the movement of vehicles and people.
