Dhaka: Eight persons have been identified from the close circuit camera footage for involvement in sexual assault during the Bengali New Year celebration on 14 April, says inspector general of police A K M Shahidul Haque.

The IGP also declared Tk1 lakh as reward for capturing each assaulter.

Shahidul Haque in a press conference held at Police Headquarters on Sunday morning sought public’s assistance for capturing the identified molesters.

Earlier on 14 April some young men molested around 20 women for about an hour at the Suhrawardy Udyan gate near the TSC area at about 6:00pm.

Several people were also injured as they tried to stop the young men from assaulting the women.

Police filed a case in this connection against unidentified persons with Shahbagh police under Women and Children Repression Prevention act on 15 April.
