10 killed, 50 injured in bus-truck collision

Sirajganj: Ten people were killed and over fifty others injured in a triangular collusion between a truck and two buses at Shimantabazar on the western side of Bangabandhu bridge link road in Kamarkhand upazila on Saturday.
Two of the deceased was identified as Sorhab Uddin and Afsar Ali, hailing from Saghata upazila of Gaibandha district.
Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Officer-in-charge Helal Uddin said a North Bengal-bound truck carrying corrugated iron sheets collided with a Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Antar Paribahan’ from Gaibandha at about 3:30pm as the truck driver lost control over the steering after one of its wheel got deflated.
At this moment, another bus of ‘Nabil Paribahan’ hit the Antar Paribahan’ from behind, leaving five people dead on the spot and over 50 injured of the three vehicles.
Of the injured, 34 people were taken to Sirajganj General Hospital where doctors declared five more people dead.
Among the remaining injured, 17 were moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.
