Chittagong: Two students were killed and five others were injured as a truck ran over them at Pahartali’s City Gate area in the Chittagong city on Saturday morning.

Agitated students of Mostafa Hakim College blocked the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway protesting the accident which took place at about 10:00am.

The two deceased—Delwar Hossain and Wahidul Hasan— were first year students of Accounting Department of the institution. Our Chittagong correspondent couldn’t identify their name immediately.

The bodies of deceased students were kept at a local hospital’s morgue and the injured students were admitted into Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

Akbar Shah Police Station officer-in-charge Sudip Kumar Das said a speedy truck hit the students on their way to college at City Gate area.

A student was died at the accident spot while another died after taking to hospital, the police officer added.

Sudip Kumar said additional police were deployed to tackle any unexpected situation.
