Dhaka: The High Court on Wednesday rejected a writ filed challenging the candidature of Awami League candidate from Dhaka-17 constituency Akbar Hossain Pathan ( Farooque) alleging Farooque is a bank loan defaulter.

The HC bench of Justice JBM Hassan and Justice MD Khairul Alam came up with the order after hearing on the writ filed by BNP candidate Barrister Andalib Rahman Partha from the same constituency, reports the UNB.

Earlier getting nomination, Farooque filed a writ petition with HC to get rid of loan default but the court was yet to pass a verdict on it.

Barrister Andalib Rahman Partha filed the writ on Monday.
