Bangladesh national cricket team opener Tamim Iqbal

Dhaka: Injured Bangladesh national cricket team opener Tamim Iqbal joined the skill training camp that resumed at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka on Sunday, after the Eid-ul-Azha vacation.

The steady Tigers opener took the ground with bat before going to indoor practice as he aimed to play the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan.

A CT scan was done on his finger on Sunday and no problem was found, informed Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury.

‘Tamim’s condition is good. Now everything is depending on him. I don’t think he (Tamim) has to miss the Afghan series,’ Debashish said.

Earlier on Saturday, Tamim told press that if he can do net practice before September 21 and doesn’t feel any difficulty he will play in Afghan series.

The left-handed batsman suffered left finger injury during training session in late August when Debashish informed that the injury will take at least two to three weeks to recover.

All the cricketers reported to the head coach Chandika Hathurusingha before the camp.

Bangladesh will take on visiting Afghanistan on September 25 in the 1st ODI of their three-match series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The remaining two ODIs of the day-night series billed for September 28 and October 1.

The English teams are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on September 30 and will stay until November 2 to play the Test and ODI series in Dhaka and Chittagong.

The ODIs are scheduled to start on October 7, while the Test series on October
