Juba League man dies of gunfight wound
Dhaka: A local Juba League leader, who received bullet in a gun attack in Dhaka’s Madhya Badda area on 13 August, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday night, raising the death toll from the shooting to four.
The hospital authorities said Badda union unit of Juba League senior vice-president Abdus Salam, the youth wing of ruling Awami League, died while undergoing treatment at about 11:15pm.
Earlier, three people were killed in the gun attack in Madhya Badda area.
The deceased are Mahbubur Rahman Gama, cultural affairs secretary of Dhaka (North) city unit of Swechchhasebak League, Shamsuzzaman Shamsu, AL ward 6 president of Maddhya Badda area, and Manik, manager of a local hospital.
On 13 August, a group of miscreants opened fire on the four while they were gossiping near the Water Tank at Adarsha Nagar at about 9:00pm on the day, leaving them injured.
Three of the injured — Shamsu, Manik and Gama — were taken to United Hospital at Gulshan where the former two died soon after their admission and Gama died on the following day.
Salam was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died on Sunday.
